Melted like cheese – rarely been so touched

On 7 September, I was invited to share The Mysterious Glow with a wide audience at the launch event of the Mental Health Action Days 2024. The occasion was part of the campus festival at the God Helps Foundation, organized in cooperation with the Graubünden Health Authority and Health Promotion Switzerland.

Following the readings, which were beautifully framed by music1, two panel discussions led by Rahel Striegel and Evi Zumsteg provided space for authentic insights into a wide range of life experiences.

The stories drawn from life about farewells, grief, uprooting challenges and changes in the ageing process moved, encouraged, inspired, and here and there brought a smile to people’s faces. When the microphones suddenly fell silent, the sounds of guitars and vocals kept spreading across the room, resonating with the audience.

I feel deep gratitude and joy to experience how on this day, The Mysterious Glow invited to address the difficult, to connect people in their humanity and thereby strengthen the awareness that you and I – we – are not alone with our struggles.

One lady shared:

This has touched me like rarely anything else in my life.

A retiree admitted:

I melted like cheese.

Shaping life in a way that promotes health begins with recognizing emotions, learning to understand them, and directing them in ways that serves life. This takes courage.

Do you have courage? Do you have the courage to bring forth this work? The treasures that lie hidden within you are waiting for you to say ‘yes’.
Jack Gilbert

Regularly reminding myself that courage is not the absence of fear, instead fear walking2, has helped me show up to life and its storms in a compassionate way.

Would you like to be accompanied on your own journey towards and through your feelings? Let’s get in touch!
